Friday Night Pizza
This is a reliable pizza night recipe that kids can help with. The dough is forgiving, the sauce is no-cook, and everyone builds their own.
🍕 No-Cook Pizza Sauce
Mix together — no heating needed:
- 1 can (15oz) crushed tomatoes
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp sugar
- 1 tbsp olive oil
This makes enough for 2 pizzas. Leftover sauce keeps in the fridge for a week.
🍞 Quick Dough (2 Pizzas)
- 2¼ tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 cup warm water (~110°F)
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp olive oil
Steps:
- Dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water. Wait 5 minutes until foamy.
- Mix in flour, salt, and oil until a shaggy dough forms.
- Knead 5–7 minutes until smooth.
- Cover and rest 1 hour (or overnight in the fridge).
🔥 Cooking the Pizza
- Preheat oven to 500°F (as hot as it goes). Use a pizza stone or an inverted sheet pan for best results.
- Stretch dough thin — don’t roll it with a pin.
- Sauce, cheese, toppings. Don’t overload it.
- Bake 8–10 minutes until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbling.
👦 Getting Kids Involved
- Stretching the dough is a great kids job.
- Set up a “toppings bar” and let them build their half.
- Watch the small ones near the hot oven.
